When it comes to hair, most women can say that they have had one bad hair day at some point in their lives. When that happens, what do you do? Well, before you answer, have you tried the unique solution that hair extensions offer? Yes, this technique is used by many women all over the world. However, there are three different ways that you can attach hair to your own tresses. Hairdressers that are experienced with this technique will use different methods and variations such as fusion, weaving, strand-by-strand and bonding.

Fusion Technique

If you get the fusion technique done, you will have the hair extensions put in strand by stand. The hairdresser will part your hair in small sections with the use of an adhesive stick or glue that is heated and specially made for the application of hair extensions. The extensions are directly added to your hair approximately a quarter inch from the scalp so that it has a natural look. It should be done so neatly that no one will notice that you are wearing extensions. It is going to be up to you if you want to share this with anyone.

Weaving Technique

With weaving, the hairdresser will corn row or braid your hair first and sew in tracks on top of the corn rows. Your own hair is going to be the base for the weaving so that you will still have a natural look.

Bonding Method

With this process, the hairdresser will apply glue to the weft of the hair extension and then place it on the hair root in a horizontal position. The hair extension comes with the weft already constructed. So the hairdresser only has to attach it to the root using the bonding method.

The Pros and Cons

With everything there are pros and cons. However, the benefits of hair extensions far outweigh the cons. If you use the bonding method, glue will be applied to the root of your hair and so your scalp won’t be able to breathe properly. The solution for this is to either wash the hair with a stocking cap on or take out the hair extension when your next hair wash is due. Otherwise, hair extensions help you when you want to give your hair a break from blow drying, chemicals and curling. Discuss this with your hairdresser to find out what is best for your hair texture.

Conclusion

Whichever hairdresser that you use to put in your hair extensions, make sure that the person is trained for this and something that she has before. Make an appointment for a consultation first before you decide on putting in hair extensions.
