6 Simple Tips for Stronger Hair
The strength of your hair will affect its susceptibility to damage. Strong hair is better protected against split ends, dead ends and other forms of damage than weak hair. If your hair is strong, it will offer a vibrant and healthy appearance while simultaneously giving you greater control over it. How do you make your hair stronger exactly?
#1) Work Your Scalp
When washing your hair, use your hands to gently massage and work your scalp. Doing so will stimulate blood flow to your scalp, thereby nourishing your hair with nutrient- and oxygen-rich blood. With more nutrients and oxygen, your hair will become stronger.
#2) Wash Less Frequently
There's no rule stating that you must wash your hair every day. Washing your hair less frequently, in fact, can make it stronger. Each time you wash your hair, you'll strip away some of its natural oils. Our bodies produce natural oils, known as sebum, in the sebaceous glands. Sebum will coat your hair so that it's both shiny and strong. By washing your hair less frequently, your hair will retain this protective coating.
#3) Turn Down the Heat
Reducing the amount of heat to which your hair is exposed can make it stronger. Heat can damage your hair. Whether it's from a curling iron, blow dryer or simply hot water from the shower, it will cause dryness that may manifest in the form of damaged hair. You can still expose your hair to heat; just turn down the heat so that it doesn't become weak or damaged.
#4) Choose the Right Products
Some products are better for your hair than others. For stronger hair, choose a volume-adding shampoo and conditioner. While they are designed primarily to increase the volume or "fullness" of your hair, they can make it stronger as well. Volume-adding shampoos and conditioners will create a protective barrier around your hair that keeps it safe from damage.
#5) Get Your Vitamins and Nutrients
Certain vitamins and nutrients have been shown to promote stronger and healthier hair. Biotin, for instance, has been shown to accelerate hair growth and increase the strength of hair. Vitamin C, on the other hand, is a natural antioxidant that can protect your hair from damage caused by free radicals.
#6) Trim It
Trimming your hair can make it stronger as well. Normally, the ends are the weakest part of a person's hair. Your hair may be strong at the roots, as well as in the middle, but it could suffer from weak ends that are susceptible to damage. Trimming your hair will solve this problem by removing the ends.
